Literally Paintings // Death in MidSummer

"Literally Paintings" is a series of 16"x12''s based the short fiction collected in "Death in Midsummer & Other Stories" by Japanese Avant Gaarde writer Yukio Mishima.

"I wanted to make a poem out of my life" - Mishima (1925 - 1970)

While literary paintings focus on adherence to the narrative and the evocation of what is expressed through text; literally paintings explore the (cognitive) process of creating paintings. The authoritative narrative is transformed by blurring fictions between the written stories and my personal memories, experience and subjective interpretation.
